Poetic License

Our designers try their hand at book covers.

Journey’s design team recently interpreted an unlikely medium just for fun, accepting a challenge from famed book designer Peter Mendelsund: Take a poem and design a book cover for it, one that captures someone’s attention and conveys meaning about the lyrics themselves.

The words of Dylan ThomasRaymond Carver and our favorite local poet, Lisa Ryan, provided the inspiration.

Alas, you won’t be seeing these covers on the shelves of your favorite bookshop—it was only an exercise, after all—but if you did, you’d totally buy one, right?
